Immigrant Woman
Hurry! Only 2 Left in Stock!
"Immigrant" is the debut novel by an author who lived in Finland for a long time and began exploring the topic of Ukrainian migration before it became a major challenge for all of Ukraine in 2022. It is a story about unspoken traumas, life abroad, and the fate-shaping nature of temporary decisions.
Ivanka is a young Ukrainian woman who, after the 2014 Revolution of Dignity, moves to the comfortable and peaceful Helsinki, where she starts working as a nanny through the "Au pair" program in an ordinary Finnish middle-class family. In Finland, she experiences a deep sense of guilt, grows closer to local Ukrainians, and simultaneously studies the features of Finnish welfare. Caught between two worlds — Finnish and Ukrainian — Ivanka tries to find her place in the sun, just like thousands of other Ukrainians in emigration.
For a wide general readership.
