This six-part educational manual is undoubtedly a new word in textbook creation. For the first time, practical material for teaching reading and writing is carefully and interestingly combined in one book. This manual is designed to make the child want to read and write and to feel joy from being able to do so. The first part of the manual is intended for the pre-letter period of literacy training, parts 2-5 cover the letter period, and the 6th part is for the post-letter period of learning. It is aimed at children with different levels of preschool reading preparation: for those students who are learning to read, only the letters they have learned are used in the reading material; the manual also contains texts and tasks for children who can read to some extent, to create conditions for organizing differentiated work with different groups of students during the lesson. A highlight of the manual is the use of new, interesting texts for modern first graders, competence-oriented tasks, and functional tasks. The authors appeal to the child's channels of perceiving the world, engaging emotional and visual memory, to form psychological readiness for reading and writing through play, without instructions or coercion. The manual will reach out to the child, speak, and sing along with them. QR codes with links to audio files contain texts for listening, voiced by professional narrators whose speech will serve as a model for students. After listening, work is done on completing tasks aimed at checking understanding of oral information. To help young schoolchildren overcome the barrier many have in learning to write, the authors suggest starting with printed letters. Special attention in the manual is given to developing writing skills in left-handed children: a letter sample is placed at the end of the line in case he/she covers the sample at the beginning of the line with their hand. Above the letters, an arrow is drawn to remind children (especially left-handers) where to start writing the letter and which element of the letter is written first. The manual will also be convenient for teachers: considering the level of development of students' reading and speech skills, the teacher independently determines the volume and frequency of performing certain tasks. Tasks for the texts are provided in the manual itself, but in small print intended for adult readers. We tried to create not just an educational manual, but a children's book with bright illustrations, linguistic curiosities, and a strong patriotic foundation.
